Who We Are and What We Work On

Who Does the Work

We work on garage doors, full stop - springs, openers, tracks, panels, rollers, cables. That's the job, and it's the only job. Most of the houses we get called to went up somewhere between 1948 and 1992, with a lot of that stock dating to the 1960s and '70s across the neighborhoods we cover. That matters because a door built for a 1972 garage doesn't always match what's on the shelf today: torsion springs sized differently, track widths that don't match a big-box opener kit, panel sections nobody made past a certain decade. We see that mismatch often enough that we check the age and build of the door before we quote anything.

Winters here are cold and hard on steel and nylon rollers both. Cold makes springs behave differently under load and makes seals crack, so a lot of our calls cluster in the months when the temperature swings hardest. We don't sell that as a special service - it's just the weather this part of Wisconsin gets, and it shapes what breaks and when.

We show up, look at the actual door in front of us, and tell you what's wrong in plain terms. If a spring is the problem, we say spring. If the opener board is fried, we say that. No upsell script, no mystery diagnostic fee buried in fine print.

Where We Work

We're based at 1406 N 25th St in Sheboygan, and most of our calls stay close to that address. Kohler is about 2 miles out, and we're regularly in Sheboygan Falls and Wilson, both around 5 miles away. Howards Grove and Oostburg sit at about 8 miles, and we'll run jobs as far as Plymouth, Holland, and Cleveland, each around 12 miles.

Beyond that ring - Cedar Grove, Cascade, Elkhart Lake, Random Lake, Belgium, Schleswig, Kiel, and Newton, stretching out to roughly 20 miles - we still take calls, but we're upfront that drive time factors into scheduling on a busy day. A job 2 miles from the shop and a job 18 miles out don't slot in the same way, and we'd rather tell you that than guess at a window we can't hit.

Across this whole service area, the housing stock skews toward that 1960s-70s build we mentioned, spread over roughly 17 named areas with a mix of older owner-occupied homes and newer construction mixed in. That spread is part of why we carry parts for both legacy torsion setups and the newer opener standards - the mix of door ages out here doesn't let you specialize in just one.

What We Will Not Do

We don't do new garage construction - framing an opening, pouring a slab, building out a structure from scratch isn't our trade. If your project starts there, you need a different contractor before you need us.

We also won't quote a repair over the phone without seeing the door. Springs, openers, and track damage all look different in person than they sound described secondhand, and a guess that turns into a wrong part on the truck wastes everyone's time.

And we're honest when a repair isn't worth it. If a door is old enough, rusted enough, or damaged enough that patching it costs nearly what replacement would, we'll say so instead of running up a bill on a door that's going to fail again in six months. That's not us talking ourselves out of work - it's the same call we'd want made on our own house.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work on doors outside Sheboygan proper?

Yes. We regularly cover Kohler, Sheboygan Falls, Wilson, Howards Grove, Oostburg, Plymouth, Holland, Cleveland, Cedar Grove, Cascade, Elkhart Lake, Random Lake, Belgium, Schleswig, Kiel, and Newton - roughly out to 20 miles from our shop on N 25th St.

Will you give me a repair quote over the phone?

Not a firm one. Spring tension, track wear, and opener issues look different in person, and we'd rather see the actual door than guess and show up with the wrong part. Call us and we'll talk through what you're seeing to get a sense of the job before we schedule.

Why does my old door use different parts than new ones?

A lot of homes in this area were built between 1948 and 1992, many in the 1960s and '70s, and torsion springs and track widths from that era often don't match current hardware. We stock for both older setups and newer standards because of how mixed the local housing stock is.

Do you handle new garage installations from scratch?

No. We don't do framing, slab work, or building a new garage structure. Our work is repair and replacement on existing doors, openers, springs, and track - if your project starts with construction, you'll need a different contractor first.
